Final Intervention (Masai)

For my final intervention, I put together sort of like a music video type of deal. The song I used is called "I Am" by Jorja Smith off the Black Panther soundtrack. For this video, I wanted to display certain things in terms of the world from my perspective with art. I wanted to try and put together this certain aesthetic where I wanted to show off black art. As creators, some back and other POC content makers who're extremely talented that don't get the credit they deserve. The reason why this came out sort of like a music video is because music videos, to me, are an underrated art form and music is also a well known source of activism as well. I've always been interested in trying to make music videos and this is my first attempt in doing so. To help me out, I linked up with some photographers in my Jersey City named Corey and Tray. Corey is a photographer and Tray is also into editing as well. We met up on campus for a shoot and the following shots are what I filmed from that day from shots of Corey to the surroundings and even some art pieces from the Visual Arts Building.

My inspiration for this project comes from the Guerrilla Girls and Kimberly Drew, who taught me that if I put my mind to it, I can make content that can speak volumes and that my voice and actions mean something and that there truly is beauty in the struggle.

Another one of my biggest inspirations for this project is Childish Gambino or Donald Glover, who's multi-talent and creativity is something I strongly admire and strive for whether that be in my work or anything I else I do in my life.

Another inspiration is Cole Bennett, who ended up making his own studio and is now one of the most well-known and popular videographers of this generation. His visual skills and editing techniques are unlike anything ever seen before and I hope to one day be on that kind of level.

Big shoutout too to Corey and Tray for being extremely talented and taking the time out of their day to work on this project and pushing me to work and improve my craft. Hope you enjoy.
