Final Intervention - Krystal M

For my final intervention I created a podcast. The podcast is available by the link, as I have posted it to facebook and shared it with some close friends.

Podcast on Rape Culture:

The podcast consists of seven sexual assault victims stories which Ive placed together. I have also incorporated a few statistics about sexual assault and violence from the RAINN website. (Rape Abuse Incest National Network). https://www.rainn.org

Stats
1. The ages of 12-34 are the highest risk years for sexual assault.
2. Every 73 seconds an American is sexually assaulted.
3. Suicidal and depressive thoughts are more likely after a sexual assault experience.
4. Approximately 1/5 of American Women reported completed or attempted rape.
5. Every nine minutes child protective services receives claims of attempted child abuse.

Rape Culture: Stereotypes, ideas, understandings that target women for their experiences.

Inspirations
 1. April is Sexual Assault Awareness month, so this topic was a great fit especially considering my past interventions with rape culture, cat calling.
 2. The Guerrilla Girls.
 3. Throughout the last few months, I've seen many posts on social media addressing rape, and rape culture. Below are some of the posts I've encountered.
