Meme and Quotes

I chose to do my memes on the reality of college. Many people believe that college only takes 4 years. In reality, college takes much longer for others. I have always told myself that I will go to college and obtain my degree in 4 years. There have been many bumps in the road and I have begun to get discouraged. I use my son as motivation to finish. I had him at 16 and I refuse to be a statistic. Also being African American female I must obtain a degree. “Society tells us that we have to take coursework to become high earners to make valuable contributions to the world.” But this semester has me questioning if I want to finish. I live in Jersey City. It is literally like a war zone here. I have lost a total of 6 friends this semester due to gun violence. On top of being a mother, student, and a entrepreneur I’m drained. “I was depressed, burned-out, and I felt like I was failing in every direction,” Drew stated. I have fallen behind completely. I feel like if it isn’t one thing it is another. Life has been hitting me hard even with COVID.
Being in school virtually does not sit right with me. I’ll rather be face to face. Sitting in front of a computer for hours makes me cringe so bad. Then I also have to multitask being on zoom and having to help my son while he is on zoom also. Having assignment after assignment can be so frustrating when you have so much on your plate. Professors also have a lack of sympathy for people who have real-life problems. I was always told this is what I signed up for. I don’t have any motivation to finish. I've completely lost interest in school. I hate that I have gotten to this point because I have always liked school. I was always an honor student. This semester seems like the end of the world. John stated, “Publicity speaks in the future tense and yet the achievement of this future is endlessly deferred." So therefore I will keep pushing it’s a must that I obtain a bachelor's degree.
