Intervention 2

There is a meaning behind every word we say. I chose to make this poster putting words into words because words are more expressive than they look and behind every single word there is a history. When I see all the posters about the BLM movement, I see pain, anger, confusion, and many more things. When we say something it means more than what it really means, when we say “Black Lives Matter” it means: stop racism, stop discrimination, stop thinking some people are better than others just because of their color or ethnicity, stop trying to make more excuses to bring more hate to this world. It’s time for people to understand that we are all equal and that we all bleed the same color. The best type of intervention we could do is raising our voices instead of staying silent, this is why words are so important because we can express ourselves and say what we really feel. Racism is something that’s been happening for a lot of time, so much that it has become a lifestyle; a lifestyle that we will never get used to. Hatred is a strong feeling and people are feeding it with discrimination, humiliation, stereotypes… is so sad seeing people acting so ignorant to this situation not knowing that hate will never make America great. The only thing that can make America great is union, respect, and love.

People that discriminate against African Americans should learn more about their story, to know how many contributions that they have made to this world; the contributions that have helped America to be what it is. Slaves played a very important role in building America in their time. We cannot rule out all the people that contributed to America later in the days; These people made our living style much easier, people such as Sarah Boone who improved the ironing board, Mary Van Brittan who co-invented the home security system, making our environment much safer, Garret Morgan who invented the traffic light, which is a very important element in the world,  because it helps us to be organized and avoid accidents, also, there is Frederick Mckinley who invented the refrigerated trucks, Alexander Miles who created the automatic elevator doors, Lewis Latimer who created the light bulb filament, Mark Dean who co-invented the color IBM pc monitor and last, between others. All these little things made our lives much easier. And it is not all about material things, there are also people like Martin Luther King and Malcolm X who fought and believed in equity for everybody because they knew that everybody is the same; they fought for the world to be a better place. This is the type of people that we should all be; people who will fight for what they believe and will try to make it possible. That is one of the best contributions that Africans have ever brought to America and even if those people are not alive now, their legacy lives on.
