Intervention 2
There are signs all over the world for different reasons. General danger signs, traffic signs, hazards signs and more. All of them inform you of what is coming and gives you options on how to maneuver through; I feel protest posters and art do the same thing. Protest posters and art informs people of the problem and it can give different ways for others to join, participate, and contribute. “As a byproduct of social media, memes and protest art act as a way to gauge a country’s political temperature.” (Fison), figuring out what people know and do not, the side they are on, and how they will help.
The topic I decided to go with is Homelessness. I learned that in New Jersey there are almost 9 thousand people that are homeless and that just the people they can account for. There are many people without homes and have to worry about their next meal or where they are going to sleep. It is important because you never know who is who is homeless or who is struggling to make it through the day. My Intentions are to change the way people look at homeless people. Many people see them as people who just do not want to work and they want to be on the street. In actuality some people have lost their jobs, used all the money they had to survive and could not get on their feet fast enough. Some people may have been put out at an early age, there are many reasons that people are homeless and I want people to be more understanding and help out with any little thing.
One of the quotes on my poster says “A Small Step Has A Greater Impact”. The small step can be anything we can help someone who is homeless by giving money to help them through the day or buying a meal cause who knows when the last time they had a meal. “Homeless Is Closer To Home Than You Think” is another quote on my poster because we never know what kind of situation a person is in. This person can be in our neighborhoods or even in our families. My intentions are get people to be more compassionate when they interact with people who are without, to people who are in need, and lend a hand in the process; to make someone's day.
