Final Intervention Idea (Masai)

For my previous intervention, I did sort of like a music video type of deal for the song AMERIKKKAN IDOL by Joey Bada$$. I feel that music videos are a very underrated art form. Not only that but the point of this video was to show what the black experience in the US is like through powerful imagery through a just as powerful song. With everything that's been going on from police brutality to the continued racial injustices of the past and present, this song, no, the whole ALL-AMERIKKKAN BADA$$ album is probably a more relevant body of work than ever and as a music fan, I strongly feel that music is one of the most prolific forms of activism.

For my final intervention, I'd like to expand more upon this. Maybe do a more updated version for the song AMERIKKAN IDOL with different types of imagery. If not that, maybe there's other songs off the album I could do the same for. In fact, why limit myself to just Joey's album? There are other artists who've made songs with just as much power and emotion such as 16 Shots by Vic Mensa or the second half of BUSY/SIRENS by Saba or the Blacker the Berry by Kendrick (or just any song from To Pimp a Butterfly) or maybe even I Can't Breathe by H.E.R. Those are just a few songs from off the top of my head but the options are limitless.

My inspiration for this project comes from the Guerrilla Girls and Kimberly Drew, who taught me that if I put my mind to it, I can make content that can speak volumes and that my voice and actions mean something and that there truly is beauty in the struggle. Another one of my biggest inspirations for this project is Childish Gambino or Donald Glover, who's multi-talent and creativity is something I strongly admire and strive for.
