This sign of protest is clearly advocating for personal freedoms that our founding fathers gave us a long time ago. However, the government today continues to take away more and more of them as time goes on, and they use fear mongering to make people think all of their unconstitutional rules are justified, and they get the people on their side. However, throughout history, when leaders of a country, tribe, etc begin to abuse their power, there are always the few independent thinkers who clearly realize that their nonsensical laws are for their own benefit, and they have no concern for the people who they are supposed to be serving. These intelligent individuals are the ones who begin protests, an eventually run their leader out of his position of leadership, or overthrow him or them. This cycle of appointing leaders, having the leaders gain too much power, and then overthrowing them has gone on for as long as humans have been around. Today, our government has used this mild flu that we call covid-19 and scared people into thinking that they actually might kill their grandma who has diabetes by going outside without a mask covering their entire face. It is unfortunate that so many people have accepted to live their lives based on the government’s nonsensical laws, but luckily there are some strong individuals who have had enough, and are protesting this lockdown as we speak. It may take longer than it should, but the people will get fed up eventually and there will be reform, due in no part to there being “less covid around” but to people waking up to how silly it was to be scared of this mild illness in the first place.
Furthermore, if people are concerned about contracting covid or any illness for that matter, then they have always been more than welcome to cover their own face. But this is not enough for them or the government. Now the whole rest of the world has to cover their faces to “protect” others. If you by some miracle summon up the courage to venture out in public while this so called horrible pandemic is occurring, then that is your choice. I didn’t ask you to stand in line behind me at Walmart, so don’t ask me to put my mask over my nose.
Signs of protest are just the baby stages of rebellion. They do a good job of raising awareness to an issue, but I believe almost always more is required to make a change. When something is wrong, and enough people feel as such, action against these government wrongdoings must be taken to create a change. If you put up a sign but still go with the grain, you won’t make a difference. As long as society has existed, the people who make changes are the ones who have the courage to form their own thoughts that they didn’t just hear from their leaders (the news), and dare to go against the grain.
