The topic that I chose for the 3 memes is about covid19 because it is an issue that it is seen today. This specific topic passionates me because in the middle of this pandemic a lot of people fail to wear a mask and don't follow social distancing which makes the pandemic to worsen. All these 3 memes have something in common and it's relatable in some way in the real world. The first meme that I made is about when corona was already spread through the world and we had to undergo a state of emergency. Not a lot of people realized but when we went into quarantine we all noticed that we weren't able to leave home because it was dangerous and still is, we also came to realize that we couldn't do the things we wanted to do like we used to before. The second meme that I made was about social distancing. I made this meme because during the holidays of Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve a lot of people broke the social distancing rule and went to party at friends house, traveled across the country etc. This breaks the social distancing rule because many people gather in one place and the virus can spread easily because you may never know who may have it and it's passing it to others. They hang out and gather in a large amount of groups like if covid doesn't exist at all.
The third and last meme that I made was about not wearing masks. I made this meme because it's a huge problem that we see today. We sometimes see people not wearing mask and risking the lives of themselves and those around them. Wearing a mask is very important not just for you but for others too, but if you don't wear one then you might end up getting sick and getting others sick too. Those people who don't wear masks and end up getting hospitalized after getting infected by covid some tend to regret not wearing a mask and wishes they had worn one. This is the reason why wearing a mask and social distancing is very important for everyone to take. Even if you aren't sick you should still follow these rules to keep yourself, those around you and your family safe. Overall, this is the reason why I chose this topic and chose to make memes about it because if we all fight together and follow the rules like we should all be doing then we can slow down the spread of covid and there wouldn't be so many deaths around the world.
"I remember this traumatic event so well because it was a story told again and again within our family. No one cared that the constant retelling might trigger post- traumatic stress; the retelling was necessary to reinforce both the message and the remembered state of absolute powerlessness."
"Photographs furnish evidence. Something we hear about, but doubt, seems proven when we're shown a photograph of it."
I chose the first quote because it can relate to the issue that we are dealing with right now which is covid19. I feel like it can relate to it because it can be traumatic for some and can trigger a lot of people. It can be traumatic for some because they probably were battling between life and death in the hospital with no friends and families by their side. It can also be traumatic for some because maybe they lost a family member or a close friend by covid and it has impacted them. People's mental health probably took a major impact on them by the pandemic with staying at home, worrying of getting sick and their family catching covid etc. All these tings can cause traumatic stress to someone and by talking a lot about it; it can trigger them. The second quote that I chose also relates to covid because many people at first didn't take it seriously that it was deadly. Many people thought that it was a simple virus that can be cured easily without impacting everyone. This issue became known worldwide when it was released in the news and on social media. That's when people began to take it seriously and believed that it was something serious and deadly that has begun to take a major impact on people's lives around the world. Many people don't believe things that are told and only choose to believe it when their is prove of a problem. Overall, this is why I chose these two quotes and why they relate to the current issue and situation.
