Migration policy in the United States is an important issue because immigrants are not given their human rights. Immigrants safety, health, and voice are not valued despite not having a criminal record. Even before, during, and after the Trump presidency it has been a huge factor issue in the immigrant community. But, during the Trump presidency we were able to see evidence towards mistreatment and harm in detention centers. Many photos and videos of immigrant families are being separated from their loved ones. Immigrant parents did not have their consent of their own children. Painfully, still today many children are not with their mother or fathers and living in foster care or detention centers not knowing when they’ll see their parents again. Coming from my perspective having my own immigrant family. I would not like to see my people suffer severe trauma and depression through these inhumane circumstances. Immigrants come here in peace hoping for asylum in the United States. In reality, immigrants are forced to be locked up and left in overcrowded detention centers. Since we are now in a COVID-19 pandemic crisis immigrants are still severely overcrowded conditions and sleeping in cold conditions. In ABC news report that immigrant kids are packed inside pods and would cover themselves with foiled blankets. There is a high increase immigrants are coming in the United States now we should speak up for their human rights.
Raising awareness and creating advocacy can inspire people to help our immigrant community by speaking up against immigration policy. People can speak up against immigrants are not receiving medical care and staying in unsanitary conditions. Our community can protest about immigrants should not be imprisoned for seeking asylum. Protest can help to bring up problems within the military policy. For example, speaking about social distance in the detention centers and keeping families together. Also, immigrant families should be provided with food, water, blanket, and any materials they need for care. It is important for the United States to give immigrant people human rights because it may prevent them from dying of illness or disease for living in horrible conditions. Also, parents and children should no longer should feel anxiety, mental illness, and depression.
Since I do not feel safe to protest outside due to COVID-19 there are other alternative ways to share the public. This caused me to created my own edit photo and post it through online or on this blog to bring awareness towards immigration in the United States. The photo I have created are one of the issues within the immigrant community. The photo carries a message and colorful butterflies to catch the public attention. This can motivate people to join my protest by face painting or speaking up about another issue. People create their own photo or poster and be creative. Anyone can join! It is important that we speak up against this issue.
Guerrilla Girls:
This photo proves how Guerrilla Girls inspire people to speak up against gender bias, sexism, and stereotype. This can reflect on how people feel toward this issue and how can it impact women and men lives. You can tell how they used blue and pink chalk to define their classified gender. I like there are many impacted quotes on the wall that is shown into our society standards. Letting other people know women are being be little and owned by men. While, men are not restricted from anything and are freely do whatever they want. Men having more privileges than women.
