2 Projects/Posters
I chose this project/poster because it really stood out to me. It stood out to me because women's are only recognize during the month of March and those of the black community are as well only recognize in the month of February. During those two months women's and the black communities are known and recognize but, the rest of the months of the years they aren't recognize and get treated very poorly. So this poster/project stood out to me because the rest of the year in exception of February and March they get discriminated. It's so unfair because even though February and March are "their day" there are still women and black people that gets discriminated no matter what month it is. Women's and the black community should be treated and respected all times of the months of the year not just February and March. Those people have feelings as well and every time they get discriminated they feel sad, angry, irritated etc. They feel this way because they are humans so we should treat them and respect them fairly.
2 Quotes
1. "Women of color know that, as a group, they have an even harder time than white woman". (Guerrilla Girls 43)
I chose this quote because it stood out to me and it brought to my attention. I agree with this quote because people of color whether they are men or women they always have a hard time then those who are white. They have a hard time because they are often discriminated and experience racism by white men and woman. Some men and women of colors are also denied or excluded from jobs, restaurants, schools etc. Basically anywhere where they only want white people to go to and not want any people of color. So, this is why this quote stood out to me because people of color do have it harder than those people who are white because they are often discriminated, judged, excluded and get denied from certain things. It is so unfair because people of color deserve to be treated equally and fairly and mostly have the rights that those of white people have. Just like I said above people of colors are also humans and have feelings and they feel sad, angry, irritated etc. when people treat them poorly and get treated unfairly by white people.
2. "One hundred, one thousand, one million years from now, we want to make sure our descendants know what our culture was really like". (Guerrilla Girls 57)
I chose this quote because it also stood out to me. It stood out to me because we do want other people from other generations to know what it was like to live in today's culture. We want them to know how badly women's and people of colors were treated by men's and white people. They didn't treat them like humans and they just got treated like if they were robots or objects with no feelings at all. Those of other generations should treat women's and people of colors equally and make them feel welcome into the community. They shouldn't follow the steps from this generation and instead we should help improve the next set of generation to do better and get along. We should help educate the next generation about what was like living in this culture so that maybe then we can get along and be treated equally like we all should. Like in my previous posters up above the next generation should know what it was like being treated bad by people just because they were women, people of colors, or homeless people. If they know what it was like living in this culture just for being who we are then maybe the next set of people can treat them with respect, with equality and accept them for who they are and not treat them horribly like people have treated them in the past. Maybe then, they can do better to end racism, discrimination, etc. against women, people of color and homeless people.
