Art/ Artist Documentary (Isabel Anaya)

Whose streets?

In the movie, discusses how Missouri is reflected in poor neighborhoods with bad schooling no matter the grade level. The people believed children are not learning enough and having difficult to read. This century children of color are still symbolize as slaves and not given the opportunities to improve themselves on literature. Many Black Americans unarmed are being attacked for no reason. It upset me that just a regular day and doing errands can end someone life due to their race.

This caused people to protest and yell "Don't shoot hands up" for Mike Brown death. Black people reflected Mike Brown death as an attacked to the black community. Watching the documentary you can sense fear within people eyes because they no longer felt safe in their city due to their race. People come together to defend their race and felt stronger together to speak up against police brutality. They speak for their lives and the future generation children of color. Parents are willing to explain their children in a young age about black people lives are at risk because they treated unequally and arrested for speaking on their righteous beliefs. This is one of the reason why jails are being crowded mostly people of color.

Camera is now a tool of defense for black people showing evidence towards police accountable for the murder or attack against the black people. Black people do not give the opportunity for police to end someone life. This end by posting real evidence videos or pictures on social media. Social media is a huge factor for black people or all people of color no matter the race to reunite to protest and attend to a meetings to speak about the Black Lives Matter. Despite that people are doing a peaceful protest are still under attacked by armed vehicles, rubber bullets, tear gas.

Activism is taught in a young age because it is still happening today. Children are assisting the peaceful protest with their parents. In the documentary a women activist named Brittany Ferrell wants to show her daughter to participate in democracy and fight for their rights for the black community. This activism in art on poster or taking a photo is to speak up against racial injustice.
