The reason why I chose Covid-19 as my topic because it has impacted our lives on a daily basis. When Covid-19 hit in the United States it was unexpected to all of us because we never imagined that the virus will spread quickly across the globe. We weren't prepared what was about to come. Many people were unemployed for months because businesses were closed during the beginning of the pandemic. People were struggling on paying bills and providing food for their families. As Susan Sontag stated "Photographs furnish evidence. Something we hear about, but doubt, seems proven when we're shown a photograph of it." The quote applies to three memes because these are evidence that actually happened. This is a proven what we had to go through and fight against with Covid-19. We need to show our audience how we feel about this situation that has occurred to our lives and do something about it.
Memes brings people together and agree with these same issues. Especially now children and adults can relate with same situation about schools. Many students are having a difficult time on virtual learning as well as college students. Teachers and professors are putting their effort to make sure students are learning and not be over stressed or have anxiety for not understanding the subject material. Sometimes memes can help people to reflect on the future about how can we improve our lives during this pandemic. What should be change in order it to be helpful for our society? According to John Berger it states, "Publicity speaks in the future tense and yet the achievement of this future is endlessly deferred." Now it is the time when we want to end this tragedy ,but we have to do our part by wearing masks, social distance and try to stay quarantine. Covid-19 vaccines are almost available and an increase amount of Covid-19 tests are being passed. Hopefully this year things may change for the better for all of us. We are all battling through this pandemic together.
