4 quotes + Image (Isabel Anaya)

Susan Sontag:

"A photograph passes for incontrovertible proof that a given thing happened. The picture may distort; but there is always a presumption that something exists, or did exist, which is like what's in the picture."

"But print seems a less treacherous form of leaching out the world, of turning it into a mental object, than photographic images, which now provide most of the knowledge people have about the look of the past and the reach of the present."

 John Berger Ways of Seeing:

"Publicity images also belong to the moment in the sense that they must be continually renewed and made up to date. Yet they never speak of the present. Often they refer to the past and always they speak of the future."

"Publicity images often use sculptures or paintings to lend allure or authority to their own message"

The quotes I chosen represents the photo above because it is the first photo I took from my dog about four years ago. My dog named Rocky became part of our family when he was 2 months old. Ever since Rocky came into our lives everything change. Rocky brought us love, joy, laughter, and happiness despite that we came back home stressed and tired. The past gives me memories of how Rocky impact our lives everyday by bringing us light into our darkest days. Rocky is the reason why I come happy throughout a rough day at class or anything in general. Every moment I spend time with Rocky is precious and memorable. This picture has a huge meaning to me because it was the first day I adopted him. It was a special moment for me and my family.
